Dr. Monika Kaceli, DMD

Founder · General & Cosmetic Dentist · Newton & Norwood

Dr. Kaceli is the owner and lead dentist of Kaceli Dental Studio, with offices in Norwood and Newton Centre. She has practiced since 2017 and opened her first office in her twenties, on her own.

“The most beautiful version of you is still you.”

Why She Chose Dentistry

Dr. Kaceli was drawn to dentistry because it brought together the things she loved: science, art and working with her hands. The work asks for precision and technical skill, and it also asks for creativity, because no two smiles are the same.

She studied biochemistry at Syracuse University, then earned her DMD from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2017. Along the way she had many mentors. One of them, a dentist she shadowed for many years, made a lasting difference. That mentor encouraged her natural skill, taught her the science behind the work and helped her find her artistic side. She still talks about how much it meant to have someone believe in her.

After dental school she worked with experienced dentists in the Boston area. Then she decided to build the practice she had in mind: a complete, comprehensive office where patients could get everything from routine care to full smile makeovers.

Opening Her Own Practice

Dr. Kaceli opened her first practice in her twenties. She did it on her own, as a woman in a field where most practice owners were men.

That first office was in Norwood. An opportunity came up, and after spending time in the town she fell in love with it and with the people there. She also liked that the location was easy for patients from the nearby towns to reach. A second office in Newton Centre followed. You can read more about both offices on our About Us page.

She had a clear idea of what she wanted to do differently. She wanted to spend real time with each patient and treat every person with respect. She wanted the care to be calm and gentle, the technology current, and the results natural.

How She Plans Your Treatment

Many patients come in with more than one concern. Maybe a chipped front tooth bothers you, an old crown feels wrong and you've wondered about straightening. Dr. Kaceli starts by asking what you want and why each goal matters to you.

From there she builds a long-term plan that works through those goals step by step, in an order that makes sense for your health and your schedule. You'll know what comes first, what can wait and what your choices are at each stage.

For cosmetic questions, such as bonding versus veneers or Invisalign versus crowns, she uses a personal consultation with photos, digital scans and a talk about your main concerns. The plan you get is built from that, not from a standard package.

Saving as Much Natural Tooth as Possible

Ask Dr. Kaceli what matters most in her work and she'll tell you it's preservation. She calls it the most important thing she does.

Her rule is simple: keep what nature gave you, and enhance or repair only what needs it. In practice that can mean choosing a smaller restoration when it will do the job, or treating a problem early before it calls for more.

She also wants patients to understand how much of their overall health starts in the mouth. Saliva carries both helpful and harmful bacteria, and its consistency affects your teeth and gums. Fluoride treatments help reduce decay over time. Problems in the gums and teeth can affect the rest of the body, so caring for them is part of caring for your long-term health.

Her Approach to Smile Design

When Dr. Kaceli plans cosmetic work, she looks at your whole face. Facial symmetry, lip shape, smile line, proportions and skin tone all help her decide how your teeth should look. The goal is teeth that fit your features.

She doesn't believe in one perfect smile. What suits one person can look wrong on another. The difference between teeth that look natural and teeth that look done usually comes down to small details: shape, size, color, translucency, texture and proportion.

The mistake she sees most in cosmetic dentistry is smiles that are too white and too perfect, the kind you can spot from across a room. Her veneers and other cosmetic work often keep slight imperfections on purpose, so the result still looks like you. She also pays attention to your bite, because a smile has to work as well as it looks.

You stay involved the whole way. Your plan can include mock-up designs, so nothing permanent happens until you've seen what your new smile will look like and you're happy with it. Learn more about smile makeovers and porcelain veneers.

What It's Like to Be Her Patient

Dr. Kaceli wants the practice to be known for a calm, gentle approach. She thinks of the practice as a family, and patients become part of it. She also wants care to go beyond traditional dentistry by looking at the patient as a whole person.

Patients tell her they notice the personal attention and a team that listens. The practice puts quality ahead of volume, so appointments aren't rushed. If you call with a question or a concern, day or night, you will get an answer.

The cases she finds most rewarding start with someone who has stopped smiling because they're embarrassed by their teeth. Watching that person look in the mirror after treatment and smile for the first time in a long while is the part of the job she loves most.

Education is the one thing she won't compromise on. Dentistry keeps changing, and she and the team attend conferences and classes on days the office is closed so they can keep up with current techniques.

Outside the Office

Away from work, Dr. Kaceli is a big soccer fan. She follows Lionel Messi and cheers for FC Barcelona. She works out at the gym, enjoys travel and spends as much time as she can with her family.
